A Gentleman of the Belle Epoche in fancy evening dress

It is not clear what he is carring over his arm. His wife's dress cape perhaps. He holds a fan in one hand and a top hat in the other.
The image is lightly damaged by so intriguing and mysterious. Once framed up, this would make a great decoration for a hallway, bath or dressing room.
