The Battle of Morat, which took place in on June 22, 1467 during the Burgundian Wars, is one of the most glorious episodes in Swiss military history. Charles Duke of Burgundy had laid siege to the lakeside town of Morat (German name: Murten), but was defeated by the Swiss with support from Lorraine and Alsace.

These sheets were drawn by Karl Jauslin and G. Roux and published in 1876 to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the battle of Murten.

The Basel Drum corps, and soldiers from the city and countryside of Basel - Basler Cadetten, Tambours de Bale, Basel-Stadt (Bale-Ville) and Baselland (Bale Campagne.

The soldiers cary the coat of arms of Basel on their flags.
