Les Modes Parisiennes
Handcolored 19th century fashion plates come
from the magazine Les Modes Parisiennes which
was published in Paris from 1843 to 1875.
This print was drawn by by Francois-Claudins
Compte-Calix (1813-1880) who was the principal illustrator for this magazine. It is signed
Compte Calix in the plate.
Two friends in spring pastels hold a conversation in an elegant salon. The standing woman shown from the back is probably an expectant mother wearing a Victorian maternity jacket.
Dimensions: Around 8.25 X 11 inches
Lightly crinkled, with some light browing spotting,
slightly rough edges. There is a small black spot in the plate to the left of the column.
