Flowers in an urn

Elegant 18th Century engraving of a classical vase and bouquet after Pierre Ranson.

Paris, Esnauts et Rapilly, circa 1780
Copper engraving on chainlinked paper.

We believe this piece is from the work: "Oeuvres contenant un recueil de trophées, attributs, cartouches, vases, fleurs...' published in Paris in 1778.

The designs for this work were made by the French artist Pierre Ranson ((French, 1736-1786), a designer at the Aubusson tapestry factory who created floral and neo-classical pattern books for ornament.

Dimensions: 22 X 28.5 cm

Some light spotting and toning (looks more pronounced in the scans than to the naked eye)
