Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary and Bohemia

Francis II, (1768-1835) was the last Holy Roman emperor, the first emperor of Austria (as Francis I and the king of Bohemia and Hungary.

After two defeats by Napoleon's armies, Francis II consented to the virtual dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire, and became the emperor of Austria. In 1809 he again declared war on Napoleon, but was defeated at Wagram. Napoleon then entered Vienna and imposed the Peace of Schoenbrunn. In 1810, Francis' daughter Marie Louise married Napoleon, a match engineered by Metternich.

Condition: Heavy spotting, but the colors are so bright the image is still outstanding. Two small pinholes in outer left margin.
