Tonio Ciolina (Bern 1898-1988) studied in France and was the student
of André Lhote and other well-known artists.
He traveled extensively in Tunisia, Greece and lived for a while
in Paris and Hamburg before settling in Bern. In 1931 he was a co-founded
of the artist's group "Der Schritt weiter" -- "The
Step Beyond"
