Amusing anonymous 19th Century Oil on Canvas. Cupid (Amor) sharpens his bow while looking impishly over one shoulder. Someone is clearly about to be hit by Love's arrow....

 

Nice old frame, somewhat worn, but attractively with patina exposing patches of old red bole (the red clay base used to secure the cold leaf) under the surface.

 

Canvas Dimensions: 38 X 27 cm

 

 

Condition: There are several small holes (easily patched, they are in the black uniform surface of the painting) and one existing repair.
