Condition: Center of Image clean and clear - light rippling in in margins, and there is a faint stain in the upper outer right corner (the margins are wider than shown, and the stained area is outside the part of the image shown here - so easily covered by a mat.)
Aldo Patocchi was born in 1909 in Basilea, Ticino (the Italian speaking region of Switzerland). Self-taught as a woodcut maker, he became one of the most skillful early 20th century practiioners of this medium. Patocchi was a founding member of the group Xylon, which brought together artists making woodblock prints. His work can be found in museums throughout Switzerland and Italy.
